Diane Confirmed On Graham Nash Tribute and Forthcoming Blitzen Trapper Release
Alela Diane has confirmed appearances on two forthcoming springtime releases. On May 25 Grassroots will be releasing Be Yourself: A Tribute to Graham Nash's Songs For Beginners. The compilation will include Alela Diane’s tack on Nash’s song “There’s Only One.” Other contributors to the album include Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes), Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Vetiver.
On June 8, Blitzen Trapper release their fifth album, Destroyer Of The Void, which features Alela Diane on the track "The Tree". 2009 saw Diane support the band on a US tour.
Rough Trade Records released Alela Diane’s album To Be Still in 2009 to much critical success. Rolling Stone said, “Diane crafts glistening, strummy folk…what shines is her twanged-out voice, which goes from a gentle whisper into a yols that rages like a California wildfire” Later in the year the label released Alela & Alina EP. In support of To Be Still Diane cross-cross the US and the world headlining sold-out shows everywhere. She played Austin City Limits and toured as support for not only Blitzen Trapper but also Iron & Wine. Diane is currently home in Portland writing new material for an expected 2011 album.
