To all you lovely folks in Philadelphia, do yourselves a favor and check out the Stereolab listening party on Tuesday at 222Gallery. Come out and celebrate the album that hits stores that day and enjoy the happy hour libations.
Speaking of Stereolab listening parties, we’ve got quite a few more coming up this weekend and next week leading up to the 8/19 relase.
See the attached flyers for more info!

If only flattery paid the bills…..
Until now, we knew very little about the rough and tumble "Watertown Scene" (as it will be coined by the NME this coming January). Drawing heavily from 2005 post-oatmeal-sludge-rock, the sounds are both sludgy and rocky (but in a most un-Melvins way).
The vanguards of the Watertown Scene scene are up-and-comers Faceless Man. Among the MySpace updates from FM are a new banner ad (compliments of MyBannerMaker.com), new photos of their new keyboard and a new song "Worn" (845 plays and counting and a massive hit with long-time fan Mike).
Like any scene, Watertown wouldn’t be popping off without a beef (anybody who was in Halifax in the early 90s will tell you this). And according to the comments, the men in Faceless Man have issues with the massively popular (856 friends and counting) and slickly produced When We Were Seven.
Check out the comments because Mike testifies: "Dude, WWW7 is full of pussies. don’t worry about them. Keep up the good work, Worn sounds great."
Folks, just remember where you heard about the Watertown Scene first. Check out the jams - http://www.myspace.com/facelessman2008
Props to Barnhart for the A&R tip.
As with any Summer blockbuster movie sensation (supposedly there’s a movie out right now called Batman?) a good Summer tour always has a killer preview out weeks before it starts. Ok so maybe that’s not true. Honestly we can’t say we’ve actually ever seen a movie-style preview for a band’s upcoming tour. However we came across this awesome footage of XL’s very own Dark Knights of Instrumental Music slaying it in Cannes at the Pantiero Festival, and so we had to share it. Call it a preview or not, it’s totally what you can expect as Ratatat criss-cross the US with their guitars, beards and hopefully smoke machine a blazing!

Exciting stuff guys. Aside from the original song by Vampire Weekend entitled "Ottoman", we’ve also got songs from the National, Ratatat, Tapes n’ Tapes & Devendra Banhart in this film! Dev even makes a cameo appearance in the film.
