TITUS ANDRONICUS ANNOUNCE FALL TOUR
+ short behind-the-scenes performance film posted by Site & Sound
+ playing NYC on Saturday at Northside Festival in Brooklyn

TITUS ANDRONICUS are excited to announce a HUGE tour for the remainder of the summer through to the end of September. These guys (and gal) have a TON of energy…and speaking of energy, Free Energy will be support on most of the added dates. The band also plays this weekend in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, as part of the Northside Festival. See below for more info.

The band's recent album, The Monitor is epic, grand, and will leave you speechless. It's kind of got a Civil War theme. It's also got members of The Hold Steady, Wye Oak, Vivian Girls and Ponytail.

Also posted today, is a very cool behind-the-scenes performance film courtesy of our friends at Site & Sound.

It features Titus Andronicus performing their rollicking anthem "Four Score And Seven." The song's central chant was as much a punk declaration that night as it was an offering of reassurance to the hometown crowd from an increasingly successful band: "It's still us versus them! It's still us versus them!" The episode documents the last show of their recent 53-date US tour. After 53 days on the road, Titus Andronicus was finally home.  The group was set to play Maxwell's, the popular Hoboken music venue just across the Hudson River from Manhattan and about a 30-minute drive away from Glen Rock, New Jersey, where Titus was formed.  As the band waited around for their show to start, they hugged old friends and shook hands with devoted hometown fans. "It feels good to be back in Jersey," Eric Harm, the band's drummer said at one point. "My parents are here and after the show they're going to drive me home."

The episode really gives you some insight into the greatness of the band and their personalities.

The Monitor was released in March by XL Recordings to rave reviews...
"a big-idea album that feels small and personable, even as it's kicking you in the shin" 8/10 - SPIN
"Fiery New Jersey rock fivesome with a frontman who sounds like Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst, amped to 11." -ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY
"The Monitor finds the New Jersey band swimming in a similar cesspool of whiskey and shit, with nothing but a proud hangover--and one hell of a record--to show for it." -FILTER
"Lyrically, history and modern anxiety morph into freedom songs for an age where, then as now, "the enemy is everywhere," and neither whiskey nor "a pretty good GPA" will save you. But an album this excellent just might." -ROLLING STONE
"On their second album, New Jersey's Titus Andronicus split the emotional atom with anthemic chants, rousing sing-alongs, celebrations of binge drinking, marathon song titles, broken-hearted duets, punked-up irish jigs, and classic rock lyric-stealing." 8.7, Best New Music -PITCHFORK

About Site & Sound...

Site & Sound is a web-based documentary music series dedicated to telling the individual stories of unique live performances in and around New York City.  Each episode of Site & Sound covers one specific performance by one musician or band. The goal of Site & Sound is to create compelling mini-documentaries about singularly talented musicians. Shot in an intimate, verite style, the series captures the small, specific details of a musical performance as well as the personal happenings surrounding that performance. Episodes of Site & Sound are available at www.thesiteandsound.com (as well as on Vimeo and YouTube). Site & Sound is produced by VanLou Media, an independent digital production outfit based in NYC. VanLou was created in 2008 by Isaac Gillespie and Andrew Gauthier--two producers who had worked together on various non-fiction programs for A&E and MTV.  "With Site & Sound, we're looking to capture the raw energy of a live performance while also telling the unique stories of the musicians," said Gauthier.
